Quilled Photo Frames

I have recently started making photo frames, though my first love remains card making. Making photo frames requires a lot of time and patience but the end result makes it worth all the effort.
Here are a few quilled photo frames that I made last week. All the frames measure approximately 8 x 6.5 inches. The size of the photo is 5x3.5 inches. The frames have an opening at the top for inserting the picture. I have decorated the frames with the blend of quilled flowers and leaves, punches butterflies and leaves and some metallic roses.

Paper piercing and some more cardboard

I was trying to stitch on one of my cards but the thread kept on breaking, on removing all the broken thread I discovered that I can use the sewing machine without thread for paper piercing!!
I have used it in this card......the picture hasn't come out great :(
Here are some more cards using corrugated cardboard, I just can't get enough of it!!!Happy Crafting!!

Foam Flowers, stitching and some corrugated cardboard

I tend make a lot of cards using a newly acquired technique/paper/embellishment and then forget all about it........my favorites these days are foam flowers, stitching and corrugated cardboard. I try to use these in all the cards that I make.......I guess this obsession will also wear off when I get some new interesting supplies.........but for now I am in love with these, especially the corrugated cardboard!!
I usually leave the insides of the cards blank to give room for personalization later on.....but this time I stamped on the inside too......Happy Crafting!!

Some more Diwali cards

Some time back Meghana from Expressions of my Experiences had mentioned that I should make some cards using ethnic Indian patterns and prints. I guess Diwali is apt for this. I have also done some colored kundan work on the cardsThanks for visiting!

My first stitched card!!

I finally made a stitched card. I have envied all the beautiful stitched cards made by the DT at Card Patterns....and I am a huge fan of Yvonne’s hand stitching on her layouts.......I did try hand stitching some time back, but found it too time consuming and it made my fingers really sore.....so I gave up on that....I do not have a sewing machine so never gave stitching on my cards a serious thought....until yesterday when I discovered a long lost hand sewing machine at home!! It took some getting used to, it can only do the basic stitch; the thread tension has to be perfect otherwise all the stitches will come off at even a slight tug.......but this will do for me until I get a real sewing machine........I modified this week's sketch a bit.......
Here is a closer look at the stitching, I need some more practice, it is difficult to guide the machine along a straight line and the thread was breaking often too......anyway I love the random border effect it created.......
I inked the edges of the lowest layer of the foam flower........

First Birthday Invitation Cards

I made these 1st Birthday party invitation samples for a baby boy on request.
The white portion in both of them is meant for the birthday boy’s picture. The birthday boy's parents liked the bigger one, but my personal favorite is this pull out card. This is the first time I have tried a pull out card, and I love how it turned out.
I did not finally make the invitation cards; the baby's parents did not want me to put my name on the cards........all my cards are very close to my heart, it makes my day when a stranger compliments me on my work......I love to hear how my creation made a difference to them....it motivates me to keep going.....it gives me an immense sense of satisfaction and self worth.....so I just couldn’t get myself to give my work without my name on it :( .......I guess anyone who is passionate about crafting will agree , what do you think?
The car is a die cut, the stars, baby footprints and alphabets are punched.

Quilled Diwali Cards

Diwali, the most important festival in the Hindu calendar falls on 17th October this year. Diwali or Deepavali is known as the festival of lights. Diyas (cotton-like string wicks inserted in small clay pots filled with oil) are lit—to signify victory of good over evil.I made a Diwali card with this week’s card patterns sketch. It didn’t come out too great and I did not have time to redo it :(.Here is another Diwali card that I made. I quilled the diya and used 3-D outliners to create the glow of the flame
