I'm Back!

I’m back in Bangalore after a relatively long break of almost 15days!! I had gone to Jabalpur (A town in central India where I grew up) to visit my parents and attend a friend’s wedding. The wedding went great, I got a chance to wear a couple of my own wedding sarees (which I had never worn before and I have been married for almost 2 years now!!).
My mum recently retired from her job as a college professor (she is a professor of Zoology). Her career spans 39 years (phew!) and she has no intention of stopping now, she will take up another job next month. So she is between jobs right now, which was great for me as I got to spend some quality time with her. Earlier whenever I visited home she was at work half the time. This is me with my Dad after my friend’s weddingThis is me with my mum(not great pictures cause they were taken with a cell phone at night)
Well I don’t have any pictures with my friend at her wedding, I guess will have to ask her for those.

After her wedding I traveled to Jordan to join my husband who had gone there for work. This was one of my best holidays ever! Jordan is a really beautiful country.....we visited loads of places there......I don’t have the patience to write about them and I’m sure you’ll find better descriptions elsewhere.
We took loads of pictures too.......here are 2 of those. This is me looking tiny and insignificant beside the gigantic roman pillars of the temple of Artemis in Jerash (Jerash is known for the ruins of the Greco-Roman city of Gerasa, and the site is acknowledged to be one of the best preserved Roman provincial towns in the world.).This is me and Aridaman (my husband) standing in front of the grand south gate entrance to Jerash. This is the famous Blue Mosque of Amman (I’m the tiny spec in front)

I also managed to do some craft shopping there. I was roaming in the streets of downtown Amman and I chanced upon shops crammed till the ceiling with craft stuff, well most of the stuff was made in China, but what the hell!!I got these small plaster of paris teddy bears and laby bugs, and also some cute white picket fence.I got these from another shop; these are painted wood alphabets and some wooden clips with bright colored flowers on them.

I did manage to some crafting over the weekend. Will post pictures soon!

Have a great week!!

Burning the midnight oil

I literally burnt the midnight oil to complete this card. This is inspired by Card Patterns sketch #40 and Daring CardMakers. Got back from work + gym after 9pm last night and couldn't start work on this card till almost 11pm. Was drop dead tired by the time this finished....
Have cut out the bigger corrugated cardboard flower from some old packaging.Happy Crafting!

Another traditional card

I have not been crafting as much I want to these days :(. I usually make atleast 4-5 cards every weekend, but I was at work on both Saturday and Sunday so this the only card I made this weekend....
I have used some more of my kundan work motifs.....I love their bright colors. I have also used some embroidered saree border on this....I guess this would look great as a wedding invitation too, what do you think?
Thanks for visiting!

A quick Card

I am really tied up at work these days. I reached home after 9pm last night and was up till 12am making this card. Did not turn out exactly as I wanted it to......anyway. have used some 3-D stickers, corrugated cardboard for the vase and have tried to create a pleated ribbon effect. I have used a dovecraft floral designer brad on the bow(the bow is hardly visible as the ribbon is almost transparent).
This is inspired by card patterns sketch #39

Something Different

I made my first pull-out pop-up card. It is not only a pop-up card it is also a pocket card.....both the techniques had been on my mind for long.....It took me almost half a day to plan and make. "Dadu" means Grandpa in Hindi.I just love the little 3-D ant stickers, ain't they cute?
Here is a great video tutorial on how to make pull-out pop-up cards. This style works best for smaller sized cards.
This card is inspired by Daring Cardmakers challenge, which is "This week I want you to join with me and make a card, any type, any theme but it n
eeds to use your latest craft punch purchase. If you haven't bought any punches for a while or don't own any at all your latest craft purchase will be quite acceptable."
Since I haven't bought any new punches lately, I used my latest craft purchase (the 3-D ant stickers) and also tried out a new style!!
